Sunday School Craft - Feeding the 5000. . .Five Loaves and Two Fish

So the little kids are going to learn about "The Feeding of the 5000" in a week or so. I searched Pinterest and Google for theme-worthy crafts. Most of them just showed five loaves and two fish with a pertinent Bible verse. . .which is fine. . .but I wanted to show the multiplication aspect of the miracle!

You need: cardstock, regular paper, glue, and scissors.

So if you scroll to the bottom, you will find my templates I created from Google graphics. You need to print out the same number of each page.

Then, you need to cut out the loaves and fish into vertical strips like this. (If you use a paper cutter like I have in the picture below, it works better if you cut the pages upside down as the fish column is wider than the loaf column, and won't get stuck under the cutting guard--yellow part.)

It helps if you print the basket page out on cardstock, but regular paper will work too. I only used the colored cardstock you see below because we have a ton of colored cardstock and I'm trying to get rid of it!

Next, you need to fold each fish/loaf column EXACTLY like the picture below: With the fish/loaf facing OUT. Don't start by folding the fish/loaf inward or your craft won't make any sense.

Then, make the next fold like this:

And the next like this (keep folding until the whole column is folded up):

Then, glue the "bottom" fish/loaf of each column and stick them on the page.

*NOTE* The effect is more dramatic if you glue them in such a way that they will jump out from the center of the page. This will make more sense in the next pictures:

Here, I have lightly taped the sides of each folded column down, so you can see the five loaves and fish.

And here they are unfolded and "multiplied"!

UPDATE: Shortly after I posted this to Facebook, my friend, Lisa, printed the craft out for her son, Jaren.

Sunday School Craft - Coin in Fish's Mouth

 Today, we are going to make this "Coin in Fish's Mouth" craft. Who's excited?

I found this little fishy on a Google search for "fish coloring page." I added the verse Matthew 17:27.

You need: cardstock, (scrap paper--optional), crayons, glue, silver coins, (and tissue paper--optional)

So, basically, what you do is print out the fish picture (last picture in this post), and then cut a slit along the bottom lip of the fish with an Exact-o-Knife. (Do this part before-hand if your children are too young to use a knife...which, I'm guessing they probably will be.)

Then, with a blank piece of cardstock (or a piece of scrap paper, like I have below), glue the way I have below: One line of glue down the left-hand side; one line of glue along the bottom, and then quite a bit of glue on the top and right-hand side. If you can't see, click on the picture to make it bigger.

Then, stick the picture on top and press the two sheets together.

You can either have the kids color them with crayons, or you can cut pieces of tissue paper and glue those on like scales. Then, slip a coin into your fish's mouth. The plastic coins we had on-hand from a prior craft, but you could also use those chocolate coins that are wrapped in tin foil. The verse does specifically say "silver coin," and most of those chocolate ones are wrapped in gold paper. If you are a stickler like me, I would unwrap each one, turn the foil inside out, and re-wrap them!

...But that's just me!

Sunday School Craft - Lazarus, Come Forth! Tomb

Who knew a resurrected man could be so cute!

I found the graphics for this on Pinterest and Google, but the door was way too small, so I had to blow it up, and by trial and error, I got it to fit the tomb! I added the verse at the top.

You need: cardstock, brad fasteners, scissors, and crayons (except, I didn't color my example...oops.).

If you notice the last two pictures, you will see that there are two doors and only one tomb. That was to save paper. Simply print out half as many door pages as you print tombs.

First off, you need to cut out your door. Then, you will need to figure out where you want to put the fastener. I put mine halfway down on the right side of the door. Take a pen, and poke a hole through that place.

Then, hold the door up to the tomb and make a mark through the hole in the door onto the tomb.

Then, poke a hole in the tomb through that mark.

Then, put a fastener through the door. . .

. . .and also through the tomb.

Flatten the fastener on the back.

When you "roll" the door away, Lazarus can come forth!

You can have your little people color these. The kids at my church really loved this one. One little boy (my three-year-old nephew) kept saying, "Wook! Wazawus is a mummy!"

...Hey, at least he learned the name "Wazawus"!

Sunday School Craft - Jesus Healed 10 Lepers

Okay, I totally ripped this one off from Pinterest.

You just need paper (I used cardstock), and crayons.

On Pinterest, they had hand-drawn/written the entire thing. All I did was type the wording into a Publisher document and then trace my hands around the words. You are welcome to print these out if you need them! I did "Jesus Healed 10 Men..." on one side, and then "...but only 1 said 'Thank You!'" on the back.

Just so's you know....All the parents LOVED this one, and I was like...uhhh...What about those other crafts that I really worked at??? 

Haha! Anyways, it's a cute idea! :) And it wasn't mine!

Sunday School Craft - Jesus Walks on Water

For this craft you will need: cardstock, crayons, scissors, cello bags (or any clear/lightly tinted plastic), and a stapler.

This is what I did. I had cello loot bags. You may use whatever you have as long as it's clear-ish. Tinted cello tissue paper or even plastic wrap might work.

First, I cut the words off the bags.

Then, I opened the bag out.

Then, I slid the disciple boat picture into the crease.

Then, I folded up the plastic. (Notice that the plastic only goes up to about the top of the boat.)

Then, I stapled the plastic in place on both sides.

Then, I cut out a Jesus figure and put him into the plastic.

And there you have it. And you can make him walk on the water to the disciples!

Ta-da!

Here are the templates I made by modifying a Pinterest coloring page and adding a verse in the cloud.

I was able to fit four Jesus-es onto this page to save paper.

Sunday School Craft - Daniel and the Lion's Den Mask

This one I got from searching on Pinterest. 

All I did was to add the scripture over the lion's mouth in a very pertinent way. :)

I didn't take a picture of the final product, and I'm not sure why. Anyways, you can figure it out from here. You can either tie elastic to either side of the face, or you can glue it to a tongue depressor at the bottom. Be sure to cut the eyes out!

Little kids love this one!
