Sunday School Craft - Daniel's Lion 2

Another Daniel's lion craft!

First, print out the template at the end of this post. (I compiled it from two lion pictures in a Google search.)

Next, fold the paper just under the top lip of the lion.

Then, fold that top lip down to meet the bottom lip.
Done!

From here, the kids can color the lion however they want.
You can even cut the eyes out if you want to make a mask.

Sunday School Craft - Adam and Eve with Fig Leaves

We just started a new curriculum at church for the little kids, so I had to start over with my crafts! This one is for Adam and Eve. I found this template by Googling "Adam and Eve craft," and then modifying the size and adding a verse to the top. This one was about how Adam and Eve didn't notice they were naked until they ate the forbidden fruit and then covered themselves in fig leaves.

Whenever I have to make a craft, I always have to keep in mind that the kids I make these for are 2-4 years old, so they can't use scissors yet. If your kids are older, you could have them cut out Adam and Eve like paper dolls before gluing on the fig leaves. It's up to you.

I think this craft is super self-explanatory...but in case you need a step-by-step, I have it below. I have also included my template at the end that you can copy.

First of all, I designed these crafts to be two to a page to save paper. I used cardstock.

I cut them in half.

I got some green tissue paper.

I folded it up length-wise till it was pretty thin and then cut down the middle.

Then, I cut the long strips into little "leafy" pieces.

Then, I covered ol' Adam with glue and grabbed some "leaves" and started sticking them on. They look better if you don't smash them flat on top of the glue, but only glue like...a third of each "leaf" down and let the other part stick up, so the craft can be more three-dimensional. You could also just grab a handful of leaves and stick them on all at once, let them dry, and then shake off the excess.

A side view so you can see the 3D-ness.

Then, I did the same to Eve, and I was done!

Christopher Kane Spring 2014 Inspired: Modification: Raglan Floral Shirt from a 70s Shirt and a Mini Dress

Sometimes you find something so gross and tacky at the thrift store that you can't not buy it. Case and point: The butterfly collared floral wonder below. I just couldn't pass it up. That's not just a painted or stamped floral pattern. Rather, it's a compiled photograph of flowers! How cool is that? Also, the shirt itself was handmade, which means not only was someone stylin' like it's 1979, but also she was doing it ON PURPOSE.

I just felt I needed to buy it, if for no other reason than respect.

A year or so ago, I bought this dress for $6 on eBay. It's actually really well-made and lined. It has this neat little cape-let and epaulet details, and even though it looks repulsive on my body, I just couldn't part with it because of the color.

Do you smell a modification coming together?

Remember that one shoulder cut-out shirt I made here? Well, this new shirt is also an homage to that Christopher Kane Spring 2014 show with the florals and the nudes and the pinks. Skipping ahead a few hours:

I kept the "V" of the neckline as a keyhole detail as you can see above, but did away with the collar. It was a little too groovy for my scrawny neck.

I used some of the lining of the dress as the cuff of the sleeves because it was the same color only shinier. Just a little detail.
